Imperative Moments are James Sellar & Katie (KT) Ray, two seasoned music industry professionals who met when James booked Katie to speak at an industry event and KT assumed he was just the photographer(!) James thought KT was, well let's not go there...

KT joined James in his company, Digital Pyrotechnics (www.digitalpyrotechnics.net) , providing pictures to the international press from music industry events, festivals and showcases. We are affiliated with Getty Images and get requests from around the world to photograph music industry luminaries. We have been featured in various magazines and journals including Professional Photographer.

We have had our photos used on album artwork, been requested to tour with bands and have made a name for ourselves as being reliable and able to cope with tricky situations, not to mention celebrities needs and whims, with aplomb.

We started Imperative Moments due to requests from our clients to branch out and found to our delight that this is a natural extension of our creativity, bringing our love of photography and events to a whole new audience. We hope that our skills will complement your next occasion whether it is an 'At Home', charity ball or indeed your wedding.

We are often asked where the name "Imperative Moments" came from; its an adaptation of a quote by the legendary photographer Cartier Bresson, who was always looking for the 'Decisive Moment' in his photography. His reportage work, in particular, is without parallel and it reminds us of what we are striving for in our work. That moment when you hit the shutter and capture something unique.

BTW KT still thinks of James as the photographer (although a particularly fine one herself) however not 'just' anymore, as they now live and work together...who would have thought it!
